Chief Buffalo's Reservation
34. Chief Buffalo’s Reservation. The 1854 Treaty with the Chippewa provided Chief Buffalo of the La Pointe Band with a section of land of his choosing. He selected a one-mile area adjoining Minnesota Point in the heart of present-day Duluth. However, Chief Buffalo's death in 1855 allowed others to misrepresent and sell his claim.
Owned and operated by the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
